Questions

Will the code work on iPhone and Android?

Point the camera at the code: iPhone and most Android phones offer to join the network. On an older phone, use Google Lens or a QR scanner app. Scan the printed card with a phone before you put it up.

Is my Wi-Fi password sent anywhere?

No. The code is made on your device, and the network name and password are not sent to our servers. Nothing is saved either: close the tab and they are gone.

What if a phone does not connect?

Check the network name and the password character by character — capitals and spaces count. Choose the security your router uses. If the router is set to WPA3 only, some phones will not join from a code; its mixed WPA2/WPA3 mode avoids that.

Do I need a new code when I change the password?

Yes. The password is inside the code, so print a new card after you change it. The code itself never expires: nothing about it depends on this site.

Can I keep the password off the card?

Yes: turn off “Password on the card”. The password is still inside the code, and anyone who scans the card can join. Leaving it off only keeps it from being read over someone’s shoulder.

What is a hidden network?

A network that does not show its name in the list of networks. If yours is one, turn on “Hidden network” under “More settings”, so that phones look for it by name.
