Perfect Pitch Trainer

Practise naming notes by ear with guided levels and feedback in your browser — free, with no sign-up or microphone needed. Start with two notes, then add more as you recognise them without prompts.

Learning 2 of 12 notes

Learn the sound of each note

Listen to the named notes, practise with feedback, then try a short check without hints. New notes unlock gradually.

Sound range

Choose one or more octaves. Only the middle octave is selected at first.

Tap a name to hear it. If you select several octaves, repeated taps cycle through them. Names separated by a slash refer to the same sound.

Progress stays in this browser. No account or microphone is needed.

Adults can improve note naming with sustained practice, though progress and transfer vary. Read the study

How it works

  1. Learn the note soundsHear named examples in a comfortable middle octave by default, or add lower and upper octaves. Practice questions reveal the answer right away so you can learn the sound-label connection.
  2. Check what remains without hintsAfter practice, a separate set of notes hides the answers until the end. Passing unlocks another note; a full test can check recognition in another sound.

Questions

Can an adult learn absolute pitch?

Small studies found that some adults improved note naming after many hours of practice, but the amount of improvement differed widely. This trainer builds the skill without promising that everyone will acquire perfect pitch.

Why is the test separate from the trainer?

Practice shows labeled examples and corrections. A no-hint test gives a clearer picture of what you recognize without that immediate help, especially when the sound changes.
