Perfect Pitch Test

Test how accurately you name isolated notes by ear in your browser — free, with no sign-up or microphone needed. Choose 12 or 48 notes, listen to each one and select its name.

Hear one note without a reference, then choose its name. Your score appears only when the test ends.

Sound range

Choose one or more octaves. Only the middle octave is selected at first.

Quick check · 12 notes

One of each note name. A fast first indication, not a verdict.

Full check · 48 notes

Each note repeats with two timbres in your chosen octaves. Better for seeing patterns and tracking change.

Use a comfortable volume. Headphones help; you can replay a note.

How it works

  1. Hear a note without a referenceThe test plays one isolated note at a comfortable volume. You can replay it, but no named sample or correct answer is shown during the test.
  2. Choose its name and see your scoreChoose one of 12 note names. The short check gives an initial indication; the longer check repeats notes in two timbres and shows results by note and sound. The middle octave is the default; lower and upper octaves are optional.

Questions

What does this perfect pitch test measure?

It measures how often you can name an isolated pitch class without an external reference. Recognizing intervals or scale degrees after hearing a key is a different, relative-pitch skill.

Does a high score prove I have perfect pitch?

One browser test cannot prove that. The 12-note check is especially brief; a longer check with different sounds gives a more useful picture. You can add lower and upper octaves when ready. With 12 choices, blind guessing averages one correct answer in 12.
