Unlock PDF

Remove PDF password protection in your browser using the opening password when required — free, with no sign-up, and your PDF and password never leave your device. Choose your PDF, enter the opening password if required and download the unencrypted copy.

Use only PDFs you own or are authorised to modify. This tool does not guess unknown passwords or sanitise PDF content.

Questions

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. Your PDF and password never leave your device unless you choose to share the result. Processing runs in a local worker, without saving the PDF or password in browser storage. The page loads its own engine files and may send anonymous usage events without document details.

Do I need the owner or permissions password?

For standard password-encrypted PDFs, the opening password is enough even when the owner password is different. If the file opens without a password but restricts printing or copying, try it without entering a password. Only process documents you are allowed to modify.

Can you recover a forgotten opening password?

No. This tool does not guess, crack or recover passwords. Certificate-based encryption, DRM and other unsupported protection cannot be removed here.

What happens to a digital signature?

Rewriting a PDF can invalidate signatures and certification. Signature fields and certification markers trigger an extra acknowledgement. The result is a reading copy, not a verified signed original. Keep the original; this tool does not validate signatures or remove certification restrictions.

Does the copy keep text and forms?

The tool decrypts the PDF structure without printing or rasterizing pages. It checks that the output opens without encryption and has the same page count. Review important text, form values, links and attachments after downloading. This is not a sanitizer: active content may remain.

What are the limits?

One PDF at a time, up to 50 MB (50,000,000 bytes). Complex or damaged files can fail even below that size. You can cancel processing; the original file is never overwritten.

Is this tool free?

Yes. This tool is free, with no sign-up and no daily limits.

Do I need an account?

No. You can use this tool without an account.
